  • Rosewood: A very British luxury

Beautifully located in the Holborn, where the city meets the Westend, 5 minutes walk from Covent Garden and Oxford Street, the Rosewood is a London hotel as we like it. Nothing has been forgotten to transform this elegant Edwardian building, housing an insurance company, in a 5-star of 262 rooms and 44 suites. But no question of altering the set: the wrought iron gate, the courtyard, the glass dome and marble grand staircase have been preserved. The originality of the designer, Tony Chi, can be noticed from the lobby: the space is partitioned by huge fully transparent windows from the floor to ceiling , like the curiosity cabinets containing many objects both precious that miscellaneous. The Rosewood is also a great place to feast. At Holborn dining room, opening onto the street, the atmosphere is very “brewery”. A more sophisticated atmosphere at the Mirror Room, where one remains amazed by walls covered with beveled mirrors, a Tony Chi’s signature. Each afternoon, the traditional English Tea is served. Today, it is one of the most modern hotels of Cannes : it was given a major renovation last year and houses 200 rooms and suites that are dressed in shades of beige, from cream chocolate, white to sand on which tranche wenge furniture. We love the bathrooms that feature a design with transparency, the glass separating the room becomes opaque with a single tap! The Gray d’Albion has two restaurants: the living room 4 seasons and 38 The restaurant and also the Jane’s Bar for a quick recovery. Finally, we love the private beach, recognizable by the planted white giraffe that sits there, one seat and tuck it in the restaurant that displays flavors from the south. A.F.-M.
