Julie André’s suitcase

Béatrice Delamotte

A bubbly young woman, Julie André has already had a loaded career despite her young age. Alternately a press officer, a lifestyle journalist for the business daily La Tribune, the editor-in-chief of Blast magazine, a freelancer for several trendy titles, she has also recently launched Cartonmagazine.com. A website in her image: full of ideas, addresses, and gossip for lovers of urban chic

Are you more of a hand-carry, trunk, suitcase, travel bag, backpack or no baggage person?
Everything must be practical. I have an aubergine Delsey suitcase with wheels to avoid waiting the baggage and a backpack to put all my junk and keep it handy

What are the essentials for your suitcase?
My bag Chanel 2-55. I can deal with any eventuality with a nice bag. My MacBook Air 11”, my diary to see what awaits me upon arrival, different brands of sunscreen to test them. And a Levis denim jacket that I’ve had since I was 15 years and I always wear it !

What do you bring back from your trips?
I started to do travel diaries, but I’m not very diligent…However, I always bring back stickers, postcards, gadgets… And magnets for my fridge, as kitsch as possible

What are your favorite destination and hotel?
Last June, I did a road trip in California and the Valley of Death. I loved it! It was like in an American film. Otherwise, Sao Paulo. It’s a good mix between city and tropical. And also there are so many Japanese restaurants, which is my favourite type of cuisine

Do you have memories of memorable trips?
A Como group hotel in Bali: I had a suite perched in the trees. Wherever I am, I could imagine could fly like a bird … Magic

Clever Tips

For long flights, I never forget: a cushion for my neck, a mask and earplugs, in an attempt to travel in the best possible conditions and relax as much as I can…And of course, I always have a good book with me, to avoid boredom!
