Design Week Special
For its third edition, Paris Design Week will take place from the 9th to the 15th of September 2013 in the heart of Paris, Saint Ouen Flea Market and the “Cité de la Mode et du Design”. Cultural platform involving the different actors of design, the event is open to the public. It provides a new perspective about creation under the theme of “Energies” with events, parties, film screenings, private tours and micro conferences with the participation of Jean Marie Massaud, Odile Decq, Ora Ito, Maurizio Galante.
Free hand to Odile Decq at the Paul Bert Serpette market, Saint-Ouen.
The architect-designer Odile Decq, designer of the year at Maison & Objet 2013, presents a selection of a hundred pieces
of furniture, objects, works of art, incongruous pieces and vintage clothing from antique shops.
This results in the creation for the exposure of a habitat, a multifunctioned living room of 35 m2 where very beautiful pieces of design from the 60s to the 80s, signed by Pierre Paulin, Knoll, Joe Colombo, Gilles Derain etc., will compose a particular universe alongside a Flemish painting from the eighteenth century and lithographs by Frutrunk Gunter, a stuffed crow, a boat propeller. September 6 to October 14
«Matières premières» at Merci, Paris.
Never in the history of design, have designers had such a wide and varied range of materials at their disposal.
This is the creative peak of interior design, but also of fashion, architecture, publishing, and press. In contrast, textures, irregularities, and rough appearances are becoming more and more attractive. Design is conceived
by the eye, but also by the hand and touch. The material itself replaces the color, the texture is itself a form of graphics which is sufficient in itself, it expresses the strength of the project with its own personality and the perception of it. The exhibition presents the symbolic objects of this movement in the categories traditionally represented at merci, expressed in the most varied materials.
From the 5th to 21st of September
«Klubben-On Time, 17 objets inédits de Norvège» at Pecha Kucha, Paris.
Klubben is an initiative recently launched for Norwegian designers in the industry.
Today, the association has 25 members, with different experiences in the design of furniture and objects. With “On Time”, we are invited to view an exhibition
about time, situations and objects. Each designer is allocated a moment, a given time, that must be interpreted by the implementation of an object. These times of the day or night punctuate 24 hours. The 17 never-before-seen objects presented on this occasion were inspired by these suggestions.
«Lost in Paris» at the Lieu du Design, Paris.
The Lieu de Design, in partnership with the Regional Tourism Committee and the city of Paris has created an event dedicated to design and tourism in Paris and the Ile-de-France.
Maurizio Galante and Tal Lancman, creators of many faces and Parisian by adoption, responded to this challenge.
Through an unusual and original concept, they offer their personal vision of an instantaneous and unexpected Paris.
