"Zurbaràn, the master of detail" at the Kunstpalast Museum, Düsseldorf.

After the exhibitions dedicated to Caravaggio (2006) and Greco (2012), the Kunspalast Museum is interested in the work of Spanish painter Francisco de Zurbaràn.

With over 70 masterpieces from around the world, this retrospective scans his work, performed mainly in Seville. His sculptural figures seem illuminated by faith and reveal a great craftmanship of light and modelling. Contrasting with his portraits of monks in ascetic austerity, his holy paintings express the charm of Sevillanas. Dubbed as the “Spanish Caravaggio” Zurbaràn demonstrates a strikingly modernity in the expression of these personalities.
