« V.S. Gaitonde : Painting as Process, Painting as Life »

Vasudeo Santu Gaitonde, Private Collection, Vienna-Mumbai @Plume Voyage Magazine

at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Venise.

Comprising over 40 paintings and works on paper from across the world, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection puts on the first retrospective exhibition dedicated to the work of the Indian painter Vasudeo Santu Gaitonde. Gaitonde’s work explores modern indian art and revists a 20th century far from the euro-american paradigm. Known for his uncompromising artistic integrity, Gaitonde developed his own non-objective style towards the end of the 1950s.
