"The Illusion of the American Frontier" at the Thyssen-Bornemisza museum, Madrid.

Edward S. Curtis, Joseph. Nez percé © DR@Plume Voyage Magazine

Walking in the footsteps of artists who have explored the great American West in the nineteenth century, this is the ambition of this exhibition.

By following the artists who wanted to show the unknown and exotic landscapes, depicting the lives of American Indians before they were reduced to living on reserves, we plunge into another universe. Vast spaces are opening, clan leaders eyes are piercing and we discover the quality of the craftsmanship of these first inhabitants of the Wild West before iconography – and colonialist ideology – caught it. Until the 7th of February 2016. B.D. www.museothyssen.org
