«Thomas Schütte» at the Fondation Beyeler, Basel.
The human form and its various modes of expression are at the heart of this exhibition dedicated to the work of Thomas Schütter.
Presented in both the halls and the grounds of the museum, these pieces produced over the last thirty years illustrate the unique artistic geography of the sculptor. Expressive women made of steel and aluminum, bronze spirits, miniature clay figures made to look like dolls,
larger than life heads and figures in ceramic, wood and glass, soft watercolor portraits…The work of Schütte reflects a taste for radical experimentation and eludes all categorization, making him one of the most fascinating and most innovative artists of our time.
Until 2 February 2014
