Rolex announces the appointment of seven new mentors.
It is in Venice that Rolex has revealed the names of the seven artists who are, each in their respective discipline, to be the mentors of Cycle 7 of the Rolex Mentors & Protégés program.
Those who have been appointed are Olafur Eliasson (visual arts), Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (cinema), Michael Ondaatje (literature),
Alexei Ratmansky (dance), Kaija Saariaho (music), Jennifer Tipton (stage) and Peter Zumthor (architecture). These seven mentors will spend at least six weeks with their protégés, young artists from around the world who will receive 25,000 Swiss francs to fund their participation in the program. Since its launch in 2002, the Rolex Arts Initiative program has helped build a community that brings artists together.
