"The Maya - the language of beauty" at the Martin-Gropius Bau, Berlin.
Maya is one of the oldest cultures of the world and this exhibition aims to show the magnificence and diversity of Maya artistic expression.
With nearly 300 works, including many Mexican national treasures, it recalls that the body and physical appearance are central to pre-Hispanic art. The Maya present their vision to life using various materials and techniques to describe their relationship with the deities, talk about their daily lives, but also literature, astronomy, music and dance. From these creations not only an idea of humans, but also an ideal of beauty and spirituality, placed in a more complex cosmic whole.
Until the 7th of August. www.gropiusbau.de
