Dunkirk: Michel Vanden Eeckhoudt
at the Frac Nord-Pas-de-Calais.
This retrospective, filled with people and animals, pays tribute to a bright, humorous photographer who grasped the importance of the moment in a straight relation to reality and to its dramaturgy. The exhibition brings together over sixty black and white photographs of the Belgian photographer who died in 2015. They all focus on the troubling representations of animals that have made his reputation. At once touching and funny, his images play on contrasts. “A certain amount of ambiguity, I like it, » used to say Michel Vanden Ecckhoudt. Humor and pain, lightness and anxiety: these two facets are always present in my work.” During the same time, the Zoology series will be presented in different partner locations in the region, from Calais to Cassel via Bourbourg.
Until April 30th. www.fracnpdc.fr
