"The origin of fashion magazines" at Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.

Editors of fashion publications have done everything to make their products as appealing as possible.

This is how they attracted renowned illustrators, some of which have even become specialists in this area, portraying these models as skilfully as possible, with a strong sense of elegance. The printmaker was responsible for transferring the design sketches onto an engraving that could reproduce the design. This exhibition presents prints created by Paul Poiret, amongst others. The concept of “fashion is art” marked the start of a new era. His illustrations served as inspiration for a number of current magazines.
