"Europe, The Future of History" at Kunsthaus, Zürich.

Arnold Böcklin, Freedom © DR

What specific image symbolises Europe? The fall of the Berlin wall?

Universal human rights, the European football championships or winning the Eurovision song contest? Since Antiquity, there has never been a single European image, as a continent that has become a multidimensional mosaic. Such is the theses that this exhibition develops through the most diverse artistic explorations. Across utopias, dreams and realities, it attempts to convey the different forms of representation behind this vision, which may seem slightly abstract: that of a passive Europe. From the 19th to 21st centuries, this exhibition focuses upon the period stretching from the construction of the United States to the post-national interdependence that characterises our continent today. Until 6th September. B.D. www.kunsthaus.ch
