« Eternal in the moment – Andrée Putman » at CAPC, Bordeaux.

Lampadaire, mezzanine CAPC, Photo Arthur Pequin

Andrée Putman has endorsed this definition of modernity borrowed from Charles Baudelaire: “eternal in the moment”.

Thus, this designer reminds us that for a poet, modernity “is not to deny the past, but to look at it in a different way”. For the CAPC, Bordeaux’s contemporary art museum, Andrée Putman devised, between 1983-1990, the entirety of interior design and furniture of the Lainé Warehouse, a former industrial building. Envisaged as a parade, the exhibition offers a wander through this wonderfully rich universe where rigor, elegance and emotion capture the making of this eminent design figure.
Until 10th January. B.D.
