«Lilian Daubisse» at the Galerie Hélène Bailly, Paris.
Cutting, snipping, and reassembling...Lilian Daubisse employs a multitude of techniques featuring cardboard at the core of her creation.
Sometimes its objects from an imaginary archeology, pottery or discs that resemble the Aztec calendars. Sometimes its clothing reflecting a contemporary mythology…either way, cardboard is more flexible that one would think. There was also the cage-corset in cardboard and wicker, a bustier made for a butoh dancer; a Cinderella dress made from Armenian paper; the samurai armor, also in cardboard. So many poetic creations, made from materials that inspire the artist with their tactile quality.
