"Pierre de Fenoÿi, imaginary geography" at Château de Tours.
A world first, this retrospective exhibition gathers together almost 110 snapshots – the majority of which are shots of the age-, a slideshow of 40 images as well as documents, films and sound archives that testify to the activity and production of Pierre de Fenoÿi.
Involved in the effervescent critique uniting sociologists, philosophers, historians and art critics regarding the status of photography in the 70s and 80s, Pierre de Fenoÿi represents a mighty current that defends the specificity of photographic medium through his close relationship with time and reality. He is one of the few French landscapists marrying classic tradition with pioneers of photography and American photography in the 1970s.
