« Mondrian and Colour » at the Turner Contemporary, Margate.
This Margate museum unveils a special retrospective of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian.
If you are well versed in his abstract compositions, you will be less familiar with the extent of his pictorial work, from his early naturalist canvases and Art Deco obsession to the most pure of abstraction, which will have left their mark on the 20th century. Distancing himself from classic art, Mondrian understood the need the concentrate on colour and brushstroke to invent a unique pictorial piece, inspiring numerous artists that followed him.
