Juxtapose timeless solids

Mural designed by Parisian interior designer Charlotte Macaux Perelman (Studio CMP) on the back wall of the restaurant Gravy NY

At least, this is certainly the case of the mural designed by Parisian interior designer Charlotte Macaux Perelman (Studio CMP) on the back wall of the restaurant Gravy NY. «Faced with this huge linear shape, I wanted to emphasize the perspective, to compose a spatial abstraction that echoes the work of American artists such as Sol Lewitt – one single piece clears the rest of the space,» explains the French interior architect before continuing. «I didn’t want to use ‘typical decorator colors’. I wanted to go back to primary colors, in the spirit of the De Stilj movement. To juxtapose timeless solids, accentuate the graphic tension that binds them and create a series of flat shapes.»
