Having opened at the end of last year, the Cinq Codet is an audacious project. Firstly, because it is located – unlike all the other glamorous boutique hotels – in a buzzy area; behind the military academy, on the left bank, to be precise. But, in perhaps a less sexy vein, it has also established itself in one of the former Telecoms centres. Has the gamble paid off? YES! With the help of Jean-Philippe Nuel, this architect made full use of this atypical architecture by designing 29 kinds of rooms. The bedrooms and suites, which resemble artists’ studio and decorated with photographs, paintings, designer furniture…
We love: the loft-style décor in the lounge bar, with the large guest table, conceptualised like a central island for casual breakfasts, and to converse with the “show cooking” chef.
Our favourite room: one of the duplex suites, which look like two little apartments. You might think that it is your very own pied-a-terre. And you just have to tilt your head to catch a glimpse of Invalides.
Too much: The outdoor Jacuzzi that ‘bubbles’ between sprigs of bamboo and a swing seat. You would think you were far away from everything…
