Independent cinemas, such as Le Balzac, in Paris, have more and more difficulty to reach art-house movies, in front of the wild competition of the big circuits. To make sensitive the public opinion at the risk of disappearance of this circuit, Le Balzac and another cinema of the Champs-Elysées, Le Lincoln, decided to close symbolically their rooms during a week between Christmas and the New Year’s Day. A strong act which has to allow, according to the leaders of these cinemas, to notify the city hall of Paris and the Ministry of Culture on the risk of disappearance of these cinemas. Then let us mobilize so that the French-style cultural exception still exists for art-house movies!
