It is Friday, August 12, the Hochberg Castle opens its doors! A new life begins for this majestic building erected between 1863 and 1866 by Victor and Edouard Teutsch, last owners of glassmaking Hochberg. In keeping with the style of Napoleon III, the castle boasts impressive facades decorated with pink sandstone bands, large windows, small wrought iron balconies. Acquired in 2014 by Silvio Denz, CEO of Lalique, it just went through a total overhaul to become a four-star hotel and bistronomic restaurant. And now it includes 15 rooms and suites, divided into 4 categories according to their size and layout. The decor is declined in three moods in reference to the decorative panels, signed by Lalique, adorning them: Umbel, Venice and Dahlia. The restaurant up to a creative cuisine based on seasonal local products, prepared by Chef Eric Frieden, in the spirit of the cuisine of Jerome Schilling, the executive chef of the two stars restaurant of Villa René Lalique. Not surprisingly, the Alsatian terroir is honored in this menu created by the husband! Hochberg Castle and offers a complementary offer to the Villa René Lalique, five minutes away, the ultra-stylish hotel and gourmet restaurant opened a year ago. A. F.-M
