"Asia> Amsterdam - Luxury in the Golden Age" at the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam.
With 170 objects from China, Japan, India and Batavia (Indonesia today), the Rijksmuseum tells the story of the excitement created by Asian arts and its treasures that were sent to the Netherlands during the Golden age.
Lacquers, ivory, silks, jewelery and a huge amount of porcelain poured on Amsterdam, building the “capital of the world” and decorating the rich interiors of merchants. The exhibition also features portraits of inhabitants of Amsterdam in the seventeenth century, posing with their luxury items.
Until the 17th of January. B.D.
