"Louise Bourgeois - Structures of existence :
Cells" at the Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao
For this exhibition, the Guggenheim Museum is presenting an ample representation of a set of works both innovative and sophisticated that Louise Bourgeois, major figure of the twentieth-century sculpture, developed over two decades of her career. We discover and experiment 28 emotionally charged architectural spaces that insulate the inner world from outside to form in each case a particular microcosm. The language and the formal innovations of Louise Bourgeois, as her way of relying on psychoanalysis and feminism, her evocative environments and theatrical enactments, are now well settled in the panorama of contemporary art . An excellent illustration of the universe given to us by the cells, a series undertaken by Bourgeois in 1986 with The aArticulated Lair and which consists of 60 unique pieces.
